Performance Excellence & Accreditation
Iowa Valley Community College District is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. IVCCD is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (www.ncahlc.org; ph. 312-263-0456), the Iowa Department of Education, and the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships. IVCCD and its colleges have articulation agreements with Iowa’s Regent universities and many private colleges in Iowa.
Beginning in 2001, IVCCD chose to pursue its Higher Learning Commission re-accreditation through the Academic Quality Improvement Program/AQIP process. AQIP infuses the principles and benefits of continuous improvement into the culture of colleges and universities by providing an alternative process through which an already-accredited institution can maintain its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. With AQIP, an institution demonstrates it meets accreditation standards and expectations through sequences of events that align with ongoing activities which characterize organizations striving to improve their performance.
In August 2012, IVCCD was one of seven Midwest colleges to pioneer a Baldrige-based Systems Appraisal as a key component of the AQIP accreditation process. Submitted to the Iowa Quality Center as part of the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence (IRPE) application process, IVCCD's IRPE application describes the District's commitment to excellence in leadership; planning; students and stakeholders; workforce; operations; and measurement, analysis and knowledge management systems.
