IVCCD invites public comment
In preparation for its Nov. 13-15 check-up visit from The Higher Learning Commission, the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) administration invites public comment on the HLC website.
“The HLC check-up visit is part of our ongoing accreditation and continuous quality improvement process,” explains Dr. Chris Duree, IVCCD Chancellor. “We submitted a written summary of all our activities to HLC in June, and the next step is for a team to visit our staff and facilities in November. In preparation for that, HLC invites public comment about Iowa Valley, which team members will take into consideration as part of the visit.”
Dr. Duree says the Higher Learning Commission wants to make the accreditation process responsive to a broad range of constituents, hence the opportunity for third-party comments. Comments are due to HLC no later than Oct. 13, and complaints will not be considered as comments; it’s noted that HLC does not settle disputes between institutions and individuals, as there is a separate complaint process in place for that. Comments can be signed or anonymous.
Comments can be submitted online at www.aqip.org; click on Resources for the Public , then click on third-party comment process (the link to the online form will also be available until Oct. 30 at www.iavalley.edu). Comments can also be submitted in writing to Third-Party Comment on Iowa Valley, The Higher Learning Commission, 230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, IL 60604-1411.
