Nurse Aide Specialist
About our program
The Nurse Aide Specialist certificate prepares students with knowledge and skills to begin a career in a health occupation field. Beginning with successful completion of a background check, Phase I meets federal regulations of the OBRA Act of 1987. This course has an emphasis to provide safe, effective care for residents in long-term care. Upon completion of the first course, there is state testing available at an additional cost that allows employment in long-term care and meets the entrance requirements of ECC's Practical Nursing program. Phase II emphasizes knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for providing care in the acute care setting. CPR/First Aid is needed before enrolling in Phase II.
