Meet Lisa Alexander, IVG Student LEADER
My name is Lisa Alexander, and I started college at Iowa Valley in the spring of 2010 majoring in nursing. I have spent a great deal of my life taking care of others, so I have decided to take up the career of nursing. I think that it is not only a great occupation, but it gives you a great satisfaction knowing that you are helping others to reach their ultimate health goal … living life to the fullest and maintaining their quality of life to the fullest.
I have four children: Nate, 26; Tara, 24; Colton, 21; and Cheyanne, 17. I am the youngest of five siblings and grew up in Brooklyn, Iowa, where I still live today. The newest addition to our family is my first grandson, born on Aug. 25. I have a shiatsu named Mercedes who is almost like one of the kids … spoiled rotten.
My favorite thing to do is drawing and painting, which is a great stress reliever for me. I also love to go camping, ride motorcycles, and fish, especially on the river. Spending time with my family and friends is always special for me.
I feel I can help the students at Iowa Valley Grinnell, providing clear directions and answers to problems that may occur for them as they progress into the school year. If I can’t figure something out I certainly know who to go to for help. As one of the IVG student LEADERS I will be here for my fellow students as needed. My advice: New students should take the time to set up a study plan and use their time wisely, and don’t be afraid to ask questions … it does really help. If you need help just ask!
Take your next step at IVCC Grinnell and you'll be on your way down a path of academic and career success. We can't wait to see you here!
