AP & CLEP Credit
Both methods require a student to pay a test fee, and college credit is based upon a qualifying score.
AP (Advanced Placement)
These accelerated courses are part of the high school curriculum. The high school administers an Advanced Placement/AP test at the end of the course. Depending on the score, a student may or may not earn college credit. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more AP information.
CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)
IVCCD administers the CLEP exam, which provides students the opportunity to receive college credit for knowledge they‟ve already acquired. Students must earn a qualifying score on any of the 34 examinations. A student who is very proficient within an academic area (Spanish, for example) should consider the CLEP.
Marshalltown Community College/Iowa Valley Grinnell students should contact Dan Key, MCC Senior Student Success Specialist, at (641) 844-5741 or Daniel.Key@iavalley.edu for more CLEP information.
