Welcome to the Iowa Valley Education & Training Center: The friendliest place in town!
Located at 206 E. Church Street in historic downtown Marshalltown, Iowa, the Iowa Valley Education & Training Center is operated by Iowa Valley Community College District. We are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm, Tuesdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm and Fridays from 8 am to 12 pm.
The mission of the Education & Training Center is to meet the needs of community members through skilled training, language learning programs, and educational opportunities that will increase individuals' self-esteem while embracing diversity and promoting cultural awareness.
Our focus is to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome to learn, and culture and diversity are valued.

ETC Programs

Customized training programs for business & industry using our modern computer lab.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Class times are Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5:30 to 8:00 pm.

GED (high school equivalency) classes in English and Spanish. GED classes meet Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 12 pm and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5 pm to 8 pm. Students are welcome to study independently on Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm.

Citizenship classes. The course covers U.S. history and government, and it will help prepare students for the Citizenship exam. Child care is available. For more information regarding Citizenship classes in Spanish and English

Customized classes for Marshalltown Central Business District, a Main Street Community
Career Achievement Program where students can earn career certificates along with their GED and the National Career Readiness Certificate. Students will have a career coach who will assist in resume writing, employability skill development, and goal setting to ensure student success in career preparation.

Child Care Available!
Child care is available for students enrolled in daytime and evening ESL/GED classes or Citizenship classes. Child care is across the street from the Education & Training Center at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; a $1.00 per day fee is required.
Cost for classes:
GED/ESL= $25 per quarter (four quarters per year)
Citizenship Classes=$50 includes tuition and book
Family Literacy=Nominal Fee
