Have you ever wanted to jump behind the counter at Starbucks and man the controls of the Cadillac of coffee makers, the espresso machine? Now is your chance! Join us to get juiced up on java (although decaf is available) and try your hand at steamed milk designs, sweet syrup concoctions, and iced wonders. Cake Decorating II
Becky Cline has worked with many students in her basic cake decorating class. This class will go beyond the basics. You will learn the basket weave and reverse shells. Also, she will show you how to make several different flowers - lilies, daffodils, mums, sweetpeas and more. You will take home your own cake fully decorated. Bring $4.00 for materials that is payable to Becky at the time of the class.

Coffee 101
What’s in a cup of coffee? Join Jeff Phelps, founder and former owner of Saint’s Rest Coffee House in Grinnell, to get the backstory of coffee and how to brew the perfect cup. In this 90 minute class, you’ll learn the history of coffee including its origin and how it was discovered, the different regions where it’s grown and why, what traits are connected to each growing region, how it became such a widespread beverage, and the best way to brew coffee using a variety of techniques, including a percolator, drip coffee maker, French press, single cup pour over system, and Clever Coffee Dripper. The different types of coffee and regions where coffee is grown will be demonstrated by taste tests. Along the way Jeff will entertain with strange and fascinating facts, stories, and figures related to coffee while answering any questions you might have. If you’re a coffee drinker, you won’t want to miss this one. Please bring $3 cash for samples.

Iced or hot, teas have been consumed over the ages for refreshment and relaxation. The variety of teas to hit the market in the last few years is mind-boggling. With different methods for brewing and a variety of health benefits as well as the aesthetic beauty of an unfurled tea bud, teas can be enjoyed on many different levels. Join us for an evening of herbal exploration. Enjoy the beauty of watching several varieties of tea buds bloom and then taste the smooth and subtle differences.
