Advanced 12 Lead EKG (2 days)
This 2 day course teaches you to identify electrode placement and normal configuration for each of the 12 leads, determine the electrical axis on a 12 lead EKG, interpret the changes of ischemia, injury and necrosis on the 12 lead EKG, differentiate right and left bundle branch blocks, discuss the criteria for diagnosis of arterial tachycardias, describe the clues used to determine aberration from ventricular tachycardia, discuss the etiology, clinical picture, and treatment for a patient with Torsades de Points, identify the characteristics of EKG changes for MI, hemiblocks and hemiblocks with bundle branch blocks, A-V dissociation and SA blocks, discuss the criteria for the diagnosis of WPW, parasystole and hypertrophy, and describe the effects of drugs and electrolyte disturbances on the EKG. Child & Dependent Adult Abuse for Educators

Grant programs should support the implementation of safe practices and/or mandate safe practices as an eligibility requirement. 9. National standards for emergency response policies and procedures should be developed and championed. 10. National protocols for response to violent incidents should be developed and championed. 11. Update to the IV Therapy Course Expanded IV Therapy for the LPN
This course is designed to update the licensed practical nurse or registered nurse in expanded intravenous therapy pursuant to the rule changes in 655 IAC Chapter 6 (in 2011). The update to the intravenous therapy course will prepare the licensed practical nurse to perform procedures related to the use of midline and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines) in a licensed hospital, a nursing facility and a certified end-stage dialysis unit as identified in 655 IAC Chapter 6. This course will build upon the knowledge and skill level the licensed nurse has acquired through the initial expanded intravenous therapy course. To be eligible to enroll in the course, the licensed practical nurse shall successfully have completed and passed the initial expanded intravenous course. Proof of completion shall be demonstrated by a continuing education certificate issued by an approved provider of nursing continuing education. The licensed practical nurse must hold a current unrestricted Iowa license to practice as a licensed practical nurse and be practicing in a licensed hospital, a nursing facility or a certified end-stage dialysis unit whose policies allow the licensed practical nurse to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy.
