Basic Self-Defense 1
According to the National Institute of Justice, 5 out of 6 people in the United States will become victims of attempted or completed violent crimes during their lifetime. About half will be victimized twice. Are you prepared to defend yourself or your loved ones? This basic self-defense course will teach the necessary skills to survive stressful, dangerous and violent situations regardless of your age, size or previous experience. The course is a practical approach to real-life attacks and not an introduction to cultural fighting arts or combative sports. You will be instructed on the most effective and easy-to-learn methods to deter an attacker. The course is designed for women, men, responsible teenagers and experienced martial artists alike. Decide not to be a victim now and learn basic self-defense. It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing for class. Registration/payment deadline 4-23-13.

Basic Self-Defense 2
In this Basic Self Defense 2 class you will quickly review previous skills from the Basic Self-Defense 1 class and continue to learn new techniques and strikes. Prerequisite is completion of Basic Self Defense 1 is required. It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing. Registration/payment deadline is 5-7-13.

Senior Information Fair
This informational senior fair is for seniors and for those of you that care for them. The day will include a variety of sessions on topics related to seniors which may include: living wills, advanced directives, cooking for one, Medicare updates, texting and technology, and fall prevention. A variety of vendors will be available with helpful information and freebies. FREE lunch will be provided. This event is sponsored by the Hardin County Circle of Life Committee, a collaborative effort of non-profit agencies serving Hardin County including Iowa Valley Continuing Education.
