MCC Tiger Athletics
Welcome to Marshalltown Community College, home of the Tigers. The MCC Athletic Department fields 10 varsity sports: men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, women's softball and men's baseball. We also have a women's soccer team that participates at the club level. The MCC cheerleaders and pep band proudly support our athletic teams.
MCC student-athletes pursue academic degrees in all areas of the college, including nursing, business, science, education, art, broadcasting, accounting, computer science and general studies. Members of the MCC Tiger Athletic Club (TAC) contribute to the athletic department and overall college funding through generous contributions to the athletic scholarship fund. Last fiscal year alone, the TAC contributed more than $100,000 in scholarships and other athletic program needs. These funds help more than 90 student-athletes pursue a college education while developing their athletic abilities.
The MCC athletic programs bring approximately 150 student-athletes to Marshalltown. These students generate $1 million in revenue for the college, as well as cycling hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the community.
MCC strives to provide the best possible environment for our student-athletes so they can succeed academically, athletically, and socially. History has shown that some of the greatest community leaders developed their leadership skills in their chosen sport as a young adult. Marshalltown Community College Athletic Department is committed to producing future leaders.
Thanks to the community's approval of a bond issue in September 2006, MCC Athletics is now housed in the new Student Activity Center. The 40,000 square foot facility on the MCC campus supports athletic and student activity needs. It includes basketball and volleyball courts, locker rooms, seating for at least 1,200, cheerleading room, walking track, exercise and training facilities, athletic department and coaches' offices, and concession facilities to accommodate events.
It's an exciting time for MCC Athletics! Go Tigers!
