Careers
The world offers an exciting range of careers for those individuals who are open minded and thrive on creative exploration. Many of the careers in the visual arts are highly challenging and require the utmost in dedication and perseverance if success is to follow. The rewards are well worth the intense effort, however, whether you are selling your work as an independent studio artist (ceramicist, painter, sculptor, photographer, etc.) or are part of a design team in an advertising company, as the stimulation and satisfaction from working in a creative field is vibrant and qualitative. Many of the careers available in the art field today involve technology so knowledge of computers is increasingly important.
Job outlook
More than half are self-employed. Employment of artists and related workers is expected to grow with competition keen.
What/Where the jobs are
Art directors, painters, sculptors, illustrators, animators, multimedia artists, art teachers, graphic designers, fashion designers, conservators, art therapists, interior design, landscape architects and medical illustrator.
