Every company needs to sell its products and services profitably. The way to do that is through advertising, promotions, marketing, sales and public relations. Market research, marketing strategy, sales, advertising, pricing, product development, promotion and public relations activity all fall under marketing. If you’re interested in helping a business profit through promotion, you’ll need to be creative, a strong communicator and motivated.
Competition for marketing job opportunities is expected to be strong. Persons with related experience, a high level of creativity and strong communication skills should have the best opportunities. Those who have skills in new media and interactive marketing will be highly desirable candidates. Although projected employment will vary by industry, overall marketing jobs are expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations through 2016.
