Tigers fall to visiting Eagles
MARSHALLTOWN - The MCC Women's Basketball team (4-9, 0-3) kept the game close for much of the first half against visiting Kirkwood Community College (15-3, 4-0), but costly turnovers allowed the Eagles to pull away early in the second half defeating the Tigers 77-52.
The Tigers turned the ball over 27 times on the evening and gave up 17 offensive rebounds, leading to easy baskets for the Eagles. Kirkwood would shoot the ball 77 times to just 50 by the Tigers.
Sophomore Mady Van Metre (Marshalltown, IA) led the Tigers offensively with 14 points, followed by 13 from sophomore center Latrice McMullen (Waterloo, IA). Freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) collected 10 rebounds to lead all players.
The Tigers will play host to Northeast Community College (14-2) on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Student Activities Center. Game time for Saturday's contest is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
