Tigers struggle against Tritons
MARSHALLTOWN, IA - The MCC Women's Basketball team (8-16, 3-8) continued to suffer with a small bench, falling to conference rival Iowa Central Community College (18-6, 9-3) 88-52.
The Tigers are still without the starting duo of freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) and sophomore Latrice McMullen (Waterloo, IA). The two lead the Tigers in rebounding, combining for 16 boards a game. Gott is also second on the team, averaging 10.6 points per contest.
The Tigers struggled all evening from the field, hitting just 24 percent of their shots. The Tigers were led offensively by sophomore Mady Van Metre (Marshalltown, IA) with 17 points. Sophomore Shakeria Slade (Milwaukee, WI) continued to provide a spark off the bench for the Tigers, pulling down a team high 9 rebounds.
The Tigers will travel to Estherville on Saturday to take on Iowa Lakes Community College. The Lakers are just ahead of the Tigers in ICCAC action with a 4-9 record. Tip-off for Saturday's contest is scheduled for 1 pm.
