Trojans score win over Tigers
The MCC Women's Basketball Team (8-13, 3-6) put together one of their best halves of the season against visiting NIACC (13-10, 6-3) on Saturday, going into the locker room up 35-21 at halftime. The Tigers were unable to contain the Trojan offense allowing them to score 45 points in the second half, falling to the visitors 66-60.
The Tigers were led offensively by Mady Van Metre (Marshalltown, IA) with 14 points. Van Metre pulled down 13 rebounds, to record her fourth double-double of the season. Sophomore Shana Lee (Milwaukee, WI) came off the bench to score 12 points on the evening. Freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) collected 14 rebounds and 8 points, falling short of her sixth double-double of the season.
The Tigers will travel to Cedar Rapids on Saturday, Feb. 9, taking on conference rival Kirkwood Community College. Tip-off for Saturday is scheduled for 1 pm.
