MCC volleyball squad earns All-Academic Team honors
MARSHALLTOWN – The Marshalltown Community College volleyball team was recognized for their overall academic achievements during the 2011-2012 season by being named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team.
“We are proud to have former Coach Jackie Holland and her 2011 volleyball team earn such high recognition for their team’s dedication to academics,” says Dan Huntley, MCC Director of Athletics. “To have such great success in the classroom from all of the student athletes shows the determination and leadership that our team had this past year. I am excited to have Marshalltown Community College represented as one of three Iowa Community College Athletic Conference teams that have earned the prestigious award in 2012.
MCC volleyball team members include: Elizabeth Honke, Atlantic, IA; Tanya Literski, Athens, WI; Taylor Literski, Athens, WI; Erica Swanger-Weeks, Toledo, IA; Danielle Pierce, Cedar Rapids, IA; Rosie Perales, Marshalltown, IA; Jessie Timmins, LeMars, IA; Jacklyn Bear, Thayer, IA; Sam Oujiri, Cedar Rapids, IA; Deena Rathjen, Marengo, IA; and Leisha Box, Liscomb, IA.
Teams must have an overall team GPA above 3.0 to qualify for the NJCAA All-Academic Team. The MCC volleyball team earned a 3.33 GPA in the 2011-2012 school year.
