Tiger Volleyball 3-1 at Kishwaukee
ROCKFORD, IL - Freshman outside hitter Katelyn Yauslin (Cedar Rapids, IA) picked up where she left off Wednesday night to help lead the MCC volleyball team (13-20, 3-2) to a 3-1 finish in the Kishwaukee Invitational over the weekend. Yauslin posted 72 kills to lead the Tiger offense.
MCC opened play with a 3-1 victory over Blackhawk Community College and a 3-0 sweep of College of Lake County on Friday. The Tigers posted their third win of the weekend with a 3-1 win over McHenry College Saturday. With the win, MCC moved it's winning streak to five matches, the longest in the past three seasons for the Tigers.
The Tigers would drop their final match of the weekend 3-0 against NJCAA III 5th ranked Harper College.
"We had a really good weekend as a team," said head coach Chris Brees. "We got tremendous production out of Katelyn and Sam. The entire team stepped it up this weekend, which is the perfect time of the year to do so."
Sophomore Sam Oujiri (Cedar Rapids, IA) contributed 52 kills on the weekend, including a season high 14 against Blackhawk Community College. Sophomore setter Tanya Literski (Athens, WI), dished out 145 assists on the weekend, giving her 1066 on the season. Defensively MCC was led by Freshman Libero Ashley Salgado (Ottumwa, IA). Salgado recorded 89 digs.
The Tigers conclude their regular season play traveling to Forest City on Wednesday, October 24, to take on Waldorf College. Match time is scheduled for 7 pm.
