Tiger Women Go 1-1 At Hutchinson
HUTCHINSON, KS -The Tiger women's basketball team (1-2) picked up their first win of the season beating Tabor College JV, 58-55 Saturday in non-conference action at the Hutchinson Classic in Kansas.
The Tigers went to the locker room trailing after the first half 21-16. MCC struggled to find their rhythm shooting, hitting just 6-26 shots. The Tigers shooting improved in the second half going 13 for 24 from the field.
The Tigers were led offensively by sophomore Shana Lee (Milwaukee, WI). Lee hit for 16 points, while freshman Mackenzie Gott (Oskaloosa, IA) chipped in 14. Gott and Lee also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Tigers.
The Tigers fell to host Hutchinson Community College (4-0) on Friday night 85-43. The Dragons are currently ranked 6th in the NJCAA I standings.
Shantal Tobler (Green Grove Springs, FL) led MCC in scoring with 14 points, followed by Latrice McMullen (Waterloo, IA) with 12. Gott collected a team high 8 rebounds in the contest.
"Hutchinson is a tough, well coached, aggressive team," said head coach Alison Lacey. "I was happy how we competed the first 10 minutes, but we need to learn how to put a full 40 minutes together. We played a much better all around game against Tabor, I hope that we can build on this as we move on to our home opener."
The Tigers return home to face North Central Missouri College on Wednesday, November 14. Tip-off at the Student Activities Center is set for 5:30 pm.
