Tigers Move To 6-0
MARSHALLTOWN, IA - The MCC men's basketball team outscored visiting Southwestern Community College (3-2) in the second half 31-18 to claim a 66-45 home victory Wednesday night and pushing their season record to 6-0.
Sophomore forward Chris Caird (England), was just short of a double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down 9 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Freshman teammate Jamal Gatali (Toronto, Canada) was just behind Caird, contributing 13 points and claiming 6 boards on the night.
MCC held the Spartans to 32% shooting from the field, while the Tigers shot 45% and hit 42% of their shots behind the three point arc. The Tigers struggled from the charity strike going 10 for 22.
MCC will continue their non-conference play as they travel to Cedar Rapids on Friday, November 16, taking on NJCAA Division II, 6th ranked Dakota County Technical College in the Kirkwood Classic at 5:30 pm. MCC will play again in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, November 17, facing Elgin Community College at 1:00 pm.
