Tigers Continue To Roll
MARSHALLTOWN, IA -The MCC men's basketball team (10-0) continued to roll through their non-conference schedule, picking up two more wins over the holiday break. The Tigers knocked off Highland Community College 87-58 on Tuesday and County Upper Academy 103-36 on Saturday.
The Tigers had four players turning in double digit performances in the win over Highland, with sophomore Chris Caird (England) pouring in a team high 17 points. Sophomore Matej Delinac (Toronto, Canada) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds, while sophomore Stephon Edwards (Romulus, MI) collected 13 points for the Tigers. Freshman Rahiem Holloway (St Louis, MO) was perfect from the field shooting 4-4, contributing 10 points.
MCC out rebounded the visiting Cougars 38 to 22. The Tigers also held an advantage from the field, shooting 49% to Highland's 41%.
Caird continued to have the hot hand for the Tigers in their win over County Upper Academy, posting 23 points. Freshman Marlon Williams (Birmingham, AL) posted 14 points for the Tigers. MCC used a balanced attack, with 13 Tigers scoring. Delinac continued to lead the Tigers on the boards with 6 rebounds.
MCC's defense held County Upper Academy to a cold 28% percent from the field and forced 35 turnovers. MCC shot 62% from the field and 43% from the three point arc. The Tiger's received a strong contribution from the bench with 60 points on the evening.
The Tigers will return to action Wednesday evening, heading to Cedar Rapids to take on Kirkwood Community College. The Tigers posted a 73-70 victory over the Eagles on November 9th. Tip-off for Wednesday's contests is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
