Lopez named NSCAA All-American
Marshalltown Community College sophomore defender, Javier Lopez, has been named to the NSCAA Junior College Division I All-American Team.
Lopez collected seven goals, five assists and 19 points in helping lead MCC to a 14-6-2 mark on the season along with a Region XI Tournament title and trip to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. Lopez was recognized as a member of the NJCAA Division I All-American third team in November.
The awards program is administered under the auspices of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the world’s largest soccer coaches association, and includes recognition of male and female All-America players at the youth, high school, junior college and senior college levels. It also includes Scholar All-America recognition at the high school, junior college and senior college levels. National Players of the Year are also named in each of those categories. Nearly 1,000 student-athletes are recognized each year.
MCC finished the season going 1-1 at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Albany, Georgia November 12th - 17th. The Tigers lost to eventual National Champions, Tyler Junior College 2-0 in their opening match, but came back to upset 5th seeded Jefferson College 2-1.
