“American Winter” - The Orpheum Theater Center Focusing on the personal stories of eight families struggling through the recent major recession, this HBO Emmy-nominated documentary presents an intimate snapshot of the state of the economy as it is playing out in the lives of American families. Co-produced by Marshalltown native Devon Terrill, who will attend (reception to follow).

“Nickel and Dimed” - The Orpheum Theater Center Acclaimed author Barbara Ehrenreich sets out to research low-wage life first-hand, confident she is prepared for the worst. The account of her odyssey is vivid and witty, yet always deeply sobering. The play shows us the life a third of working Americans now lead.

“Inequality for All” - The Orpheum Theater Center This documentary explores America’s historically high income inequality. At the heart of the film is a simple proposition: What is a good society, and what role does the widening income gap play in the deterioration of the nation’s economic health?
Tickets are available at no cost at the Orpheum Theater Center (641-844-5920). Free-will donations will be accepted for local anti-poverty efforts. Limited seating is available.
