Assignment
Specifics NOTE: ALL assignments must include your name and title of assignment. For e-mail, the SUBJECT line should reference the title of assignment. The chapter provides information on how and when to define terms for specific audiences and purposes. The assignment for this chapter involves writing an extended definition. Pick a term from your major that can be defined in 100 words. Begin your definition with a sentence definition, then choose from the list of items given in the text to extend the definition to 100 words. Note that your audience is the layman audience, so provide information that could be useful to non-technical readers. NOTE ABOUT PLAGIARISM: Plagiarism is the use of
someone else's intellectual property. Be sure to compose your
own definition. You may be tempted to borrow
from a textbook or some other source. It's important to avoid
that temptation.
